PHOTOGRAPHY SITES

Masters of Photography -A wonderful site to view large images and read about the masters of photography, although there are many notable exceptions that do not appear.

Luminous Landscape - Very good for tutorials, both digital and traditional, camera raw, resolution etc.

File - Stylish image bank. Browse through the thumbnails and migrate to the photographer's sites

Staley Wise - New York gallery site- excellent for fashion photography and portraiture

Temple - Excellent site for essays on photographers

ICP- Intenational Centre of Photography

George Eastman House - Good collection of images.

V and A Museum - From historical to contemporary photography, lots to browse through.

National Museum of Photography, Film & Television - From historical to contemporary photography, lots to browse through.

Getty Images - One of the worlds largest image libraries.

Photoblog.org - Photoblogs.org is a resource designed to help people find all kinds of photoblogs.

Flickr - Store or search online photographs.

Photomuse - One to watch........the index page states- PhotoMuse.org, the collaborative website of the George Eastman House and International Center of Photography Alliance, is currently under development. This version is a prototype. Research continues on both the database back end and the design of the front end. When completed, the site will provide in-depth access to the extensive photography resources of both institutions.

Pbase - Good resource for image research (resonably large images) if you are prepared to search through a lot of mediocre photographs to get to the better examples.

Magnum -The world's most prestigious photographic agency was formed by four photographers - Robert Capa, Henri Cartier-Bresson, George Rodger, and David "Chim" Seymour in 1947.

The Photographer's Gallery - A good starting point to research contemporary photographers. Have a look in the past exhibitions section.

The Daguerreotype -Dedicated to the history, science, and art of the daguerreotype.

Photography Quotes -If you want a quote from a particular noted photographer this is the place to get it from - "Stare. It is the way to educate your eye, and more. Stare, pry, listen, eavesdrop. Die knowing something. You are not here long." -Walker Evans.

About Photography -Lots of history, articles and a good forum where a lot of well informed professionals and amateurs are willing to share their knowledge if you post a question (you will have to register to do this), or just have a browse through other postings.
